Laura's Kentucky Derby Bourbon Slush

I would never miss a Kentucky Derby Day without consuming some bourbon.  Since no one should booze alone, Stone and I invited some friends for drinking, dinner, and conversation.  Our evening began with Laura's Kentucky Derby Bourbon Slush, a recipe I received from a not long ago neighbor, who just so happens to now live in Kentucky.  I wonder if they where at the Derby yesterday?   Stone and I went a few years ago and we had a blast watching the jockeys warm up on there  horses, along with just plain people watching. That alone was worth the trip.  For me the best part was the leading up to the day.  The choosing of the dress, shoes, and most importantly the enormous hat, had me tilting my head to fit through the door way and I thought it was fabulous.

1 cup granulated sugar
2 cups hot tea
1 (12 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, undiluted
1 (6 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate, undiluted
6 cups water
1 1/2 cups Maker's Mark bourbon

Dissolve sugar in hot tea.  Stir in lemonade and orange juice concentrates, water and bourbon.  Pour into plastic container, cover and freeze for at least 24 hours.  Serve as slush consistence.
