Carleen, Stone and I sampled cuisine from over two dozen Turkey Creek restaurants. Those included Abuelos, Buffalo Wild Wings, Bonefish Grill, Corks, Connor's Steak & Seafood, Buttermilk Sky Pie, Zoe's Kitchen, Sweet Frog, Seasons, Schakolad Chocolate Factory, Pei Wei, Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, Menchie's, La Parilla, Irish Times, Gigi's Cupcakes, Fleming's, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Earth Fare, Cru Bistro & Wine Bar.
Carleen, Stone and I began our evening with wine offerings from Reedy Creek Winery.
I had not been to Buttermilk Sky Pie shop. Here in Knoxville they have two locations. I ran into a friend, Howard, while at Kroger's just this past week. He was telling me just how good their pies where. They had two pies you could choose to sample at the Taste Of Turkey Creek, Pumpkin and Pecan. Carleen, Stone and I had the Pecan Pie. Lets just say that sample was not enough. It was so good I should have bought an entire pie.
With the price of the tickets, you get two alcoholic beverages. As you can see, Carleen and Stone are enjoying round two.
A large crowd, over 1000 people, attended the event. Luckily the rain took a detour, making for an enjoyable evening.
The Chillbillies, one of East Tennessee's top party bands.
I can't take Stone anywhere! Actually I did that, hahaha. Stone was minding his own business enjoying an Ice Coffee from Einstein Bros Bagels, while talking on the phone to Daniel, who was not able to join us. I, on the other hand, got so excited about the cookie display at Einstein's Bros. Bagels that the next thing I know, Stone was wearing some of his drink. Actually, now that I think of it, he has some khaki shorts he can now pair up with this tee. See, its just a matter of how you look at things.
Tim Irwin, once upon a time, was a big ole University of Tennessee football player. He went on to a 14 year NFL career, most of which was spent with the Minnesota Vikings. Now, he is a lawyer, a Knox County Juvenile Court Judge and most importantly, one of the Chillbillies. And YES, he sure can sing.
The Chillbillies, a Premier Party band who plays a mix between Southern Rock and R&B, performed throughout the evening.
Stone yep, yep thats right. Carleen you don't say.
The Chillbillies, a six-man band assembled in 2000.
The Second Annual Taste Of Turkey Creek raised over $14,000.
The only disappointment of the evening was by the time we were ready for a cupcake from Gigi's Cupcake, they where completely OUT!!! What, no cupcake? Not a crumb left. Well ladies and gentlemen, that says it all. Next time I see something that I really want and looks that good, I will grab it early. Stone was smarter than Carleen and I, he did just that. He had the strawberry cupcake and made sure to let us know just how good it was. Looking on the bright side, just think of the calories we saved for the rest of the weekend. Hey, since there are numerous events going on, you have to spread it out or next thing you know, you are having to buy bigger sizes. Nooooo!!!
